Aromatherapy School
Aromatherapy is getting to be very popular among the people. This is because the oils used here come from trees or plants and does not have any side effects compared to the more conventional medicines that are designed to relieve muscle strain and stress.
This trend has opened numerous spas in the United States. The price of the services are quite competitive but it is worth the price if the person is able to relax and unwind after a tiring at the office.
The demand for aroma therapists has steadily increased in the past few years. Someone who wants to pursue a career in this line of work will have to go to school to be trained in the various oils. There are vocational schools around so all the person has to is enroll in a course.
Students will first start with a beginner kit. This may have four to six bottles of oils that has various scents. Each of course is effective in treating something different in the body while others can be used for more than two functions.
Eventually other oils will be introduced. Since aromatherapy is not just applying one oil and at times requires the mixing of a few to create the desired effect, a good student will have to learn about chemistry. The person must remember that one oil may overcome the other and this doesn’t do any good if this were to happen.
From oils, most classes will go into other forms of aromatherapy such as the use of candles, bath salts, soaps and incense. This may look differently but the scent is still the same.
A diploma in aromatherapy is not a license, which allows someone to work in this kind of profession. However, the lessons learned can expand many doors for the person.
Some aroma therapists counsel customers when buying such oils from the store. Others work like chemists in company that makes perfumes.
Those who have capital can open a business by buying the supplies and then selling it to make a profit. The same thing can also be done by doing some research and formulating certain concoctions, which people will appreciate.
Graduating from aromatherapy school can also be used as a stepping-stone to eventually get into higher levels of health care practice. Students can then study more to become a massage therapist, an ayurvedic clinician, sports medicine therapist and naturopaths. In a few simple words, the sky is the limit.
Those who want to know more about being an aroma therapist should inquire in vocational schools nearby. If there are none, the person can try enrolling online since this is one of the many subjects being offered in distance education.
An aromatherapy program starts at $500. This could be higher or lower depending on the state where the person enrolls in. Those who don’t have enough money to pay for tuition can apply for a scholarship like those offered by Sallie Mae and TERI.
There are various organizations that govern those practicing aromatherapy. These are namely The National Oils Research Association, The American Alliance of Aromatherapy and The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.
This is one of the things these groups are pushing for given that there is no formal accreditation of aromatherapy yet in the United States.
