What advice can you give someone who has an overeating disorder?
How can I overcome this problem? Don't say stop eating so much, because I already know that. I have this disorder because of my mother. Growing up she has always used food as comfort. I'm in my early 20's now, living with my boyfriend. I don't know what to do. I'm not extremely overweight. I'm 5'0" and weight 130 lbs. Four years ago, when I graduated from high school I weighed 105 lbs. Some advice would be helpful, especially from those who have gone or are going through the same thing.
Try to think of it this way. Food is only here for us to survive. Food has evolved in a way that it seems as if food is only here for pleasure. It is not. Only for surviving. SO the next time you want to eat something or anytime you go to eat, remember this…."Ok, am I eating right now for pleasure or for survival". This has helped me (when I can remember) It is very hard to stop eating when it is a lifetime habit. I have a problem with this too. I pig out on candy and snacks all day and still eat meals. But, I'm trying to get better. Also exercising a lot will help even if you eat alot. But just try the "survival" technique! I hope this helps!
