When you are applying for scholarships the first thing you need to do is make a list of scholarships which you know. Making a list of scholarships will give you an idea as to how many are there for which you can apply. You want to try and put together a list as long as possible. There are thousands of scholarships that you probably have never heard of, including scholarships for women. By using a simple search engine you will be surprised to find thousands of scholarships you may not have known to exist.
There are even websites which gives you a free list of scholarships available students like you. So then you will get a very long list. When making your list of scholarship programs you should write down what the criteria for each one is. After you have all the different scholarship programs you then sort out your list of scholarships.
You should make it a point to apply to as many scholarships as you are able, the wider you cast your net, the better. Even if you do not fit all the criteria, the worst case scenario for what will happen is you will be turned down for the scholarship. Just remember if there are no takers you may end up being awarded the scholarship, even if you don’t fit perfectly. There are so many scholarships that do not get claimed only because no one applied for it; so for that off chance, put in your application. Even after you have sent in your applications, keep your list of Scholarships. You will know for which ones you got and which ones you did not.

From your list of scholarships also apply to the ones which have smaller cash values. You will have better chances at it because they are typically in less demand. If you simply get seven to ten small scholarships it could pay you better off then one large one. The key is to cast a huge net, applying to every single scholarship that you may fit for.
