There are specific programs to help students who are the only working person in their family, for example a single mother. These programs include food stamps and low cost housing benefits. To further assist graduate students who are paying back loans, anticipating that they may also have families, the Obama administration’s new plan means these payments will not be more than 10 percent of their income, BusinessWeek reports.
