Aspira Continuing Education Now Offers The Courses Required for Already Licensed Mental Health Professionals Seeking the Newly Established LPCC License in California
For licensed Marriage and Family Therapists outside of California, who typically seek MFT continuing education, there is a new path available in California. The CA BBS (Board of Behavioral Sciences) has implemented a new license, the LPCC (licensed professional clinical counselor). The LPCC license is open to those already licensed in CA as well as those outside of California. For a short period of time, the CA BBS has made available a process to apply for their LPCC license, called the “grandparenting” path. This path will differ for those licensed outside of California from those licensed in the state of California. There will be additional coursework required for those licensed outside of California.
Aspira Continuing Education now provides courses that meet the requirement for the LPCC “grandparenting’ path at http://www.aspirace.com. In addition to these extra courses, the applicant must have met the core content areas in their masters or doctorate program. All of the extra courses can be taken from an online provider approved by the CA BBS. The courses and their corresponding number of required hours are as follows:
* 15 contact hours of training in alcoholism and other chemical substance abuse dependency;
* 10 contact hours of training in human sexuality;
* 15 contact hours of training in spousal or partner abuse assessment, detection, and intervention;
* 7 contact hours of training in child abuse assessment and reporting;
* 18 contact hours of training in California law and professional ethics;
* 10 contact hours of training in aging and long-term care; and,
* 15 contact hours of instruction in crisis or trauma counseling.
Aspira Continuing Education has added a few more courses to their course list in the last month. Aspira Continuing Education now has all of the required courses listed above, in addition to their already extensive list. “Now, those seeking licensure with the CA BBS as an LPCC can meet all of their extra coursework in one place”, said Nicole Hiltibran, MA, LMFT, CEO of Aspira Continuing Education. “This really simplifies the process during this window of opportunity of the grandparenting path provided by the CA BBS.”
In addition to these specific courses for the LPCC license, Aspira Continuing Education offers several other courses that are beneficial to those needing to renew their current license, whether it is in social work, marriage and family therapy or counseling. Aspira is the proverbial one-stop-shop for those seeking continuing education in the mental health and social work fields, in California and across the Unites States.
